Is Cynar Gluten Free?
Cynar, an Italian bitter liqueur made primarily from artichokes, is generally considered gluten-free. However, as with any alcoholic beverage, individuals with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity should exercise caution and may want to contact the manufacturer directly to confirm the absence of gluten-containing ingredients or potential cross-contamination during production.

Rich in antioxidants: Artichokes, the main ingredient, are high in antioxidants that can help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.
May support liver health: Artichokes contain compounds that may help protect the liver and promote its function.
Potential digestive aid: Cynar’s bitter components may stimulate digestive juices and support healthy digestion.
May lower cholesterol: Some studies suggest that artichoke extract can help reduce cholesterol levels.
Possible anti-inflammatory effects: Artichokes contain compounds with anti-inflammatory properties.
May support heart health: The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds in artichokes may contribute to cardiovascular health.
Potential blood sugar regulation: Some research indicates that artichoke extract may help regulate blood sugar levels.
Diuretic properties: Cynar may have mild diuretic effects, which can support kidney function and fluid balance.
Low alcohol content: Compared to many other liqueurs, Cynar has a relatively low alcohol content (16.5%), which may be less harmful when consumed in moderation. It’s important to note that while these potential benefits exist, they are primarily associated with the artichoke content and should not be used as a justification for excessive alcohol consumption. As with any alcoholic beverage, Cynar should be consumed responsibly and in moderation.
Pregnant women: Alcohol consumption during pregnancy can lead to serious health risks for the developing fetus.
Individuals under the legal drinking age: The legal drinking age varies by country but is typically 18-21 years old.
People with liver disease or other liver problems: Cynar, like all alcoholic beverages, is processed by the liver and may exacerbate existing liver conditions.
Individuals with a history of alcohol abuse or addiction: Cynar contains alcohol and could trigger relapse in recovering alcoholics.
People taking certain medications: Cynar may interact negatively with various medications, including but not limited to: – Blood thinners – Antidepressants – Antibiotics – Pain relievers
Those with allergies to artichokes or any other ingredients in Cynar: The primary flavor in Cynar comes from artichokes.
Individuals with gout: Alcohol can increase uric acid levels and potentially trigger gout attacks.
People with pancreatitis: Alcohol consumption can worsen this condition.
Those with certain digestive disorders: The bitterness and herbal nature of Cynar may aggravate some digestive conditions.
Individuals who need to avoid alcohol for religious or personal reasons.
People operating heavy machinery or driving: Cynar can impair judgment and reflexes.Always consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice regarding alcohol consumption, especially if you have any health concerns or are taking medications.

What is Tolerase® G?
A new Approach for People with Gluten Sensitivity:
Explore the Science and Benefits of Tolerase® G.
Relief from Gluten Sensitivity
In the fight against gluten, there is a unique supplement that stands out: Little Helpers anti-gluten pills with 100% Tolerase® G.
This specific enzyme, Tolerase® G, a patented endopeptidase specific for proline, was developed by Royal DSM and has been scientifically proven to be effective in breaking down gluten residues ( 1) . Furthermore, research has shown that Aspergillus niger prolyl endoprotease (AN-PEP), an enzyme closely related to Tolerase® G, can break down gluten so effectively that it barely reaches the duodenum, potentially eliminating gluten toxicity ( 2) ( 3 ) .
On this page we explain why we are so enthusiastic about this supplement, supported by scientific research.

What is Gluten?
Gluten is a group of proteins found primarily in grains such as wheat, barley, and rye. These complex proteins give shape, strength, and texture to bread and other grain products. However, gluten is difficult to digest because it is rich in proline, a non-essential amino acid. This is why about 13% of the world’s population is sensitive to gluten in their diet (1).
How Tolerase® G Works
It is important to note that Tolerase G is designed to have optimal activity in the difficult conditions of the stomach. Its effectiveness on the digestion of gluten in the stomach and duodenum has been scientifically proven ( 1 ).
Studies have shown that a newly identified prolyl endoprotease derived from Aspergillus niger can effectively break down gluten proteins. This enzyme works optimally at a pH of 4–5, remains stable at pH 2, and is completely resistant to digestion by pepsin ( 2 ). Furthermore, research has shown that Aspergillus niger prolyl endoprotease (AN-PEP) accelerates the breakdown of gluten in the stomach so much that very little gluten reaches the duodenum ( 3 ). This suggests that co-administration of AN-PEP with a meal containing gluten could potentially eliminate gluten toxicity, allowing people to (occasionally) abandon their strict gluten-free diet ( 3 ).
