What is Tolerase® G?

A new Approach for People with Gluten Sensitivity:
Explore the Science and Benefits of Tolerase® G.

Relief from Gluten Sensitivity

In the fight against gluten, there is a unique supplement that stands out: Little Helpers anti-gluten pills with 100% Tolerase® G.

This specific enzyme, Tolerase® G, a patented endopeptidase specific for proline, was developed by  Royal DSM  and has been scientifically proven to be effective in breaking down gluten residues ( 1) . Furthermore, research has shown that Aspergillus niger prolyl endoprotease (AN-PEP), an enzyme closely related to Tolerase® G, can break down gluten so effectively that it barely reaches the duodenum, potentially eliminating gluten toxicity ( 2) ( 3 ) .

On this page we explain why we are so enthusiastic about this supplement, supported by scientific research.

What is Gluten?

Gluten is a group of proteins found primarily in grains such as wheat, barley, and rye. These complex proteins give shape, strength, and texture to bread and other grain products. However, gluten is difficult to digest because it is rich in proline, a non-essential amino acid. This is why about 13% of the world’s population is sensitive to gluten in their diet (1).

How Tolerase® G Works

It is important to note that Tolerase G is designed to have optimal activity in the difficult conditions of the stomach. Its effectiveness on the digestion of gluten in the stomach and duodenum has been scientifically proven ( 1 ).

Studies have shown that a newly identified prolyl endoprotease derived from Aspergillus niger can effectively break down gluten proteins. This enzyme works optimally at a pH of 4–5, remains stable at pH 2, and is completely resistant to digestion by pepsin ( 2 ). Furthermore, research has shown that Aspergillus niger prolyl endoprotease (AN-PEP) accelerates the breakdown of gluten in the stomach so much that very little gluten reaches the duodenum ( 3 ). This suggests that co-administration of AN-PEP with a meal containing gluten could potentially eliminate gluten toxicity, allowing people to (occasionally) abandon their strict gluten-free diet ( 3 ).

Shirataki Noodles:Also known as "miracle noodles," these are made from the konjac yam. They're virtually calorie-free, gluten-free, and have a slightly chewy texture. Shirataki noodles are flavorless on their own but absorb the flavors of the sauce well.
Sweet Potato Noodles:Created by spiralizing sweet potatoes, these noodles offer a slightly sweet flavor and vibrant orange color. They're rich in vitamins and minerals, gluten-free, and provide a unique twist to traditional Pad Thai.
Mung Bean Noodles:Also called glass noodles or cellophane noodles, these are made from mung bean starch. They're gluten-free, have a translucent appearance when cooked, and a slightly chewy texture. Mung bean noodles are very absorbent, making them great for soaking up Pad Thai sauce.

Frequently
Asked Questions

Can celiac eat pad thai?
Celiac individuals need to be cautious with pad thai. Traditional pad thai contains wheat-based soy sauce, which is not gluten-free. However, it's possible to make or order a gluten-free version of pad thai using tamari or other gluten-free soy sauce alternatives. Always check ingredients and preparation methods carefully when eating out, or make pad thai at home to ensure it's safe for celiac consumption.
What are thai pad noodles made of?
Thai pad noodles, commonly known as pad thai noodles, are typically made from rice flour. These flat, thin noodles are soaked in water until softened before being stir-fried. They have a chewy texture and are able to absorb the flavors of the sauce and other ingredients in the dish. Some variations may use tapioca flour or mung bean flour, but rice flour is the most traditional and widely used ingredient for pad thai noodles.
Are pad thai noodles made with wheat?
Pad Thai noodles are not typically made with wheat. They are usually made from rice flour, resulting in thin, translucent rice noodles. These rice noodles are a key component of the popular Thai dish Pad Thai. However, some variations or non-traditional versions might use wheat noodles, so it's always best to check the ingredients if you have dietary restrictions.
Does thai soy sauce have gluten?
Thai soy sauce typically contains gluten. Most traditional Thai soy sauces are made with wheat as well as soybeans. However, there are some gluten-free Thai soy sauce options available on the market. If you need to avoid gluten, it's important to carefully check the ingredients or look for specifically labeled gluten-free Thai soy sauce alternatives.
