Is Pho Gluten Free?
Pho, the popular Vietnamese soup, is typically gluten-free as its main ingredients (rice noodles, broth, meat, and vegetables) do not contain gluten. However, it’s important to be cautious of potential cross-contamination in restaurant kitchens and to check if any additional seasonings or sauces used contain gluten-derived ingredients.

Low in calories: A typical bowl of pho is relatively low in calories, making it a good option for weight management.
High in protein: The meat (usually beef or chicken) provides a good source of protein, essential for muscle repair and growth.
Rich in vitamins and minerals: The broth and vegetables contain various nutrients, including vitamin C, vitamin B6, folate, and iron.
Hydrating: The soup’s high liquid content helps keep you hydrated.
Contains anti-inflammatory ingredients: Spices like ginger and cinnamon have anti-inflammatory properties.
Supports digestive health: The warm broth can aid digestion and soothe the stomach.
Provides bone-strengthening nutrients: The bone broth used in pho is rich in collagen and minerals that support bone health.
Offers immune system support: The combination of herbs and spices can help boost the immune system.
Contains antioxidants: Herbs like basil and cilantro provide antioxidants that combat free radicals in the body.
Customizable for dietary needs: Pho can be adapted to various dietary requirements, such as gluten-free or low-carb options.Remember that the health benefits can vary depending on the specific ingredients and preparation methods used.
Individuals with severe seafood allergies (if the broth contains fish sauce)
People with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity (if soy sauce is used, as it often contains wheat)
Those with high blood pressure (due to the potentially high sodium content in the broth)
Individuals on a low-sodium diet
People with MSG sensitivity (if MSG is used as a flavor enhancer)
Those with beef or chicken allergies (depending on the type of meat used in the soup)
Individuals with onion or garlic allergies (as these are common ingredients in Pho)
Vegans or strict vegetarians (unless a vegetarian version is available)
People with certain digestive issues who are sensitive to spicy foods (if adding spicy condiments)
Those with cilantro aversion (as cilantro is a common garnish)
Individuals on a low-carb diet (due to the rice noodles)It’s important to note that many of these concerns can be addressed by modifying the dish or choosing specific ingredients. Always consult with a healthcare professional if you have specific dietary concerns or restrictions.

A new Approach for People with Gluten Sensitivity:
Explore the Science and Benefits of Tolerase® G.
Relief from Gluten Sensitivity
In the fight against gluten, there is a unique supplement that stands out: Little Helpers anti-gluten pills with 100% Tolerase® G.
This specific enzyme, Tolerase® G, a patented endopeptidase specific for proline, was developed by Royal DSM and has been scientifically proven to be effective in breaking down gluten residues ( 1) . Furthermore, research has shown that Aspergillus niger prolyl endoprotease (AN-PEP), an enzyme closely related to Tolerase® G, can break down gluten so effectively that it barely reaches the duodenum, potentially eliminating gluten toxicity ( 2) ( 3 ) .
On this page we explain why we are so enthusiastic about this supplement, supported by scientific research.

What is Gluten?
Gluten is a group of proteins found primarily in grains such as wheat, barley, and rye. These complex proteins give shape, strength, and texture to bread and other grain products. However, gluten is difficult to digest because it is rich in proline, a non-essential amino acid. This is why about 13% of the world’s population is sensitive to gluten in their diet (1).
How Tolerase® G Works
It is important to note that Tolerase G is designed to have optimal activity in the difficult conditions of the stomach. Its effectiveness on the digestion of gluten in the stomach and duodenum has been scientifically proven ( 1 ).
Studies have shown that a newly identified prolyl endoprotease derived from Aspergillus niger can effectively break down gluten proteins. This enzyme works optimally at a pH of 4–5, remains stable at pH 2, and is completely resistant to digestion by pepsin ( 2 ). Furthermore, research has shown that Aspergillus niger prolyl endoprotease (AN-PEP) accelerates the breakdown of gluten in the stomach so much that very little gluten reaches the duodenum ( 3 ). This suggests that co-administration of AN-PEP with a meal containing gluten could potentially eliminate gluten toxicity, allowing people to (occasionally) abandon their strict gluten-free diet ( 3 ).
