Benefits of Sure Jell

Pectin is a type of soluble fiber found naturally in fruits and vegetables

As a dietary fiber, pectin may offer some health benefits when consumed as part of a balanced diet: – May help lower cholesterol levels – Can potentially aid in blood sugar regulation – May promote digestive health and regularity – Could help with feelings of fullness, potentially aiding in weight management – May have prebiotic effects, supporting gut health

However, it’s important to note that Sure Jell is not marketed or intended as a health supplement. Its primary use is as a gelling agent in food preparation.

The amount of pectin consumed through the use of Sure Jell in jams or jellies is likely too small to provide significant health benefits on its own.

For potential health benefits from pectin, it’s better to consume whole fruits and vegetables that naturally contain this fiber.Always consult with a healthcare professional before making any significant changes to your diet or if you have specific health concerns.

What is Tolerase® G?

A new Approach for People with Gluten Sensitivity:
Explore the Science and Benefits of Tolerase® G.

Relief from Gluten Sensitivity

In the fight against gluten, there is a unique supplement that stands out: Little Helpers anti-gluten pills with 100% Tolerase® G.

This specific enzyme, Tolerase® G, a patented endopeptidase specific for proline, was developed by  Royal DSM  and has been scientifically proven to be effective in breaking down gluten residues ( 1) . Furthermore, research has shown that Aspergillus niger prolyl endoprotease (AN-PEP), an enzyme closely related to Tolerase® G, can break down gluten so effectively that it barely reaches the duodenum, potentially eliminating gluten toxicity ( 2) ( 3 ) .

On this page we explain why we are so enthusiastic about this supplement, supported by scientific research.

What is Gluten?

Gluten is a group of proteins found primarily in grains such as wheat, barley, and rye. These complex proteins give shape, strength, and texture to bread and other grain products. However, gluten is difficult to digest because it is rich in proline, a non-essential amino acid. This is why about 13% of the world’s population is sensitive to gluten in their diet (1).

How Tolerase® G Works

It is important to note that Tolerase G is designed to have optimal activity in the difficult conditions of the stomach. Its effectiveness on the digestion of gluten in the stomach and duodenum has been scientifically proven ( 1 ).

Studies have shown that a newly identified prolyl endoprotease derived from Aspergillus niger can effectively break down gluten proteins. This enzyme works optimally at a pH of 4–5, remains stable at pH 2, and is completely resistant to digestion by pepsin ( 2 ). Furthermore, research has shown that Aspergillus niger prolyl endoprotease (AN-PEP) accelerates the breakdown of gluten in the stomach so much that very little gluten reaches the duodenum ( 3 ). This suggests that co-administration of AN-PEP with a meal containing gluten could potentially eliminate gluten toxicity, allowing people to (occasionally) abandon their strict gluten-free diet ( 3 ).

Frequently
Asked Questions 1

Is pectin gluten free?
Yes, pectin is gluten-free. Pectin is a naturally occurring polysaccharide found in fruits and vegetables. It is commonly used as a gelling agent in jams, jellies, and other food products. People with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity can safely consume pectin.
Are pectin and sure jell the same thing?
Pectin and Sure-Jell are not exactly the same thing. Pectin is a naturally occurring substance found in fruits, while Sure-Jell is a brand name for a commercial pectin product. Sure-Jell contains pectin as its main ingredient, along with other additives like dextrose and citric acid. While both are used for similar purposes in jam and jelly making, Sure-Jell is a specific product formulation, whereas pectin refers to the general substance.
Is all jelly gluten free?
Not all jelly is gluten-free. While many jellies are naturally gluten-free, some may contain gluten-containing additives or be processed in facilities that also handle gluten products. It's important for people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity to carefully check labels and choose certified gluten-free options. When in doubt, it's best to contact the manufacturer directly to confirm the gluten-free status of a specific jelly product.
What's the difference between sure jell and clear gel?
Sure Jell and Clear Jell are both pectin products used for making jams and jellies, but they have some key differences. Sure Jell is a traditional pectin that requires sugar to set properly, while Clear Jell is a modified corn starch that doesn't need sugar to gel. Clear Jell produces a clearer, more transparent final product compared to Sure Jell. Additionally, Clear Jell is often preferred for canning pie fillings as it remains stable at high temperatures and doesn't break down during the canning process.
